01 / UNDERSTAND MOUNJARO

GIP and GLP-1:
acting on two receptors.

Tirzepatide, the active ingredient in Mounjaro, is a dual agonist that acts on both receptors.

It helps regulate blood glucose by promoting insulin secretion and reducing glucagon secretion when blood glucose is high. It also acts on pathways involved in appetite and calorie intake.

02 / PRESCRIBING CRITERIA

Weight management prescriptions
follow medical eligibility criteria.

These are the Korean approved criteria for chronic weight management in adults. Your clinician assesses both eligibility and whether treatment is appropriate for you.

Adults · Chronic weight managementBMI 30 or above

Adults with obesity and an initial BMI of at least 30 kg/m²

Adults · With a weight-related conditionBMI 27 or above
and below 30

Adults with overweight and at least one weight-related condition, such as hypertension, dyslipidemia or type 2 diabetes

Body mass index (BMI) is weight in kilograms divided by height in meters squared. Even if you meet the approved criteria, your medical history, medicines and contraindications must be reviewed. For chronic weight management, it is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.
03 / BEFORE PRESCRIPTION

At your first visit:
four areas of your health.

01

Weight history & goals

Discuss recent weight changes, previous weight management experiences and treatment goals.

02

Health status

Review other health conditions, family history, any tests needed and current health measures.

03

Medicines & treatment history

Tell us about diabetes and weight management medicines, allergies and past adverse reactions.

04

Lifestyle & treatment plan

Discuss eating, activity and sleep patterns, injection technique and follow-up appointments.

Korean approvals also include glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes and treatment of moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea in adults with obesity who meet the approved criteria. The dose schedule on this page describes chronic weight management for obesity and overweight in Korea.
04 / DOSE & FOLLOW-UP

Start with the initial dose.
Adjust step by step with your clinician.

Your clinician adjusts the dose based on treatment response and tolerability—how well you tolerate the medicine.

Starting dose · First 4 weeks2.5 mg

Start with a once-weekly subcutaneous injection. The 2.5 mg dose is for treatment initiation.

After the first 4 weeks5 mg

The approved regimen increases to and maintains 5 mg once weekly.

If further adjustment is neededAfter consultation: adjustment

After at least 4 weeks on the current dose, it may be increased in 2.5 mg steps if needed. The maximum dose is 15 mg once weekly.

This chart is an educational summary of Korean approved prescribing information. Follow your prescription for the actual dose and any increase. If you have troublesome symptoms, consult your clinician instead of increasing the next dose yourself. Availability and prescribing options for each strength should be checked separately.
05 / USING YOUR PEN

One pen, one injection.
Learn the steps before you inject.

The Mounjaro prefilled pen supplied in Korea is a single-use product: one pen delivers one injection. Injection sites include the abdomen, thigh and upper arm; rotate the site each time.

11 / QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

More questions about Mounjaro?

What if I miss a dose?

Lilly Korea advises taking a missed dose as soon as possible within 4 days (96 hours). If more than 4 days have passed, skip that dose and take the next one on your usual day. Ask your clinician or pharmacist if you are unsure of the schedule.

Can I change my injection day?

Lilly Korea advises that the day may be changed if there are at least 3 days (72 hours) between doses. Once a new day is chosen, keep a once-weekly schedule and check your prescription and instructions before making the change.

Can one pen be split across several injections?

The prefilled pen supplied in Korea is a single-use product for one injection per pen. Do not split doses yourself or reuse the pen.

Can I use it with other weight management medicines?

Tell your clinician about all medicines you currently use. They must assess whether combinations are appropriate and when to change medicines. Do not combine or switch them yourself.

Can I stop treatment once I lose weight?

Treatment goals, progress, adverse reactions and lifestyle management are assessed together when discussing continuation, changes or stopping. Decide whether to stop and what to do afterwards with your clinician.

How can I check the price and prescribed dose?

Whether the medicine is prescribed and at what dose are decided after consultation. Ask the clinic about costs and currently available strengths.
