Tirzepatide, the active ingredient in Mounjaro, is a dual agonist that acts on both receptors.
It helps regulate blood glucose by promoting insulin secretion and reducing glucagon secretion when blood glucose is high. It also acts on pathways involved in appetite and calorie intake.

Adults with obesity and an initial BMI of at least 30 kg/m²

Start with the initial dose.
Adjust step by step with your clinician.
Your clinician adjusts the dose based on treatment response and tolerability—how well you tolerate the medicine.
Start with a once-weekly subcutaneous injection. The 2.5 mg dose is for treatment initiation.
The approved regimen increases to and maintains 5 mg once weekly.
After at least 4 weeks on the current dose, it may be increased in 2.5 mg steps if needed. The maximum dose is 15 mg once weekly.

The Mounjaro prefilled pen supplied in Korea is a single-use product: one pen delivers one injection. Injection sites include the abdomen, thigh and upper arm; rotate the site each time.

Storage temperature

When refrigeration is not possible
It may be stored at temperatures no higher than 30°C. Check both the storage conditions and the time kept out of refrigeration.
Do not use if it has been frozen
Avoid places with large temperature changes, such as inside a car. If storage conditions are uncertain, ask a pharmacist or the product information service.

Alongside changes in appetite, record food intake, food types and any symptoms. If intake falls markedly or vomiting continues, review nutrition and hydration with your clinician.

Plan activity around your fitness and joint health. Record everyday movement and your body’s response, rather than setting strenuous goals, to discuss at your next visit.

- ContraindicationsReport any personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma, multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2 (MEN2), hypersensitivity to the ingredients or type 1 diabetes.
- Conditions & other medicinesTell us about any history of pancreatitis, severe gastrointestinal disease or diabetic retinopathy, and other medicines such as insulin.
- Pregnancy, breastfeeding & proceduresDiscuss pregnancy or plans to conceive, breastfeeding, and planned surgery or anesthesia with your clinician.
Watch for adverse reactions.
- Gastrointestinal symptomsNausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation and abdominal pain may occur. Seek advice if symptoms persist or make it difficult to eat or drink.
- Risk of low blood glucoseUsing it with insulin or a sulfonylurea may increase the risk of hypoglycemia. Your clinician decides whether other medicines need adjustment.
- When to seek prompt medical careSeek immediate medical help for serious symptoms such as severe or persistent abdominal pain, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or throat.

What if I miss a dose?
Lilly Korea advises taking a missed dose as soon as possible within 4 days (96 hours). If more than 4 days have passed, skip that dose and take the next one on your usual day. Ask your clinician or pharmacist if you are unsure of the schedule.
Can I change my injection day?
Lilly Korea advises that the day may be changed if there are at least 3 days (72 hours) between doses. Once a new day is chosen, keep a once-weekly schedule and check your prescription and instructions before making the change.
Can one pen be split across several injections?
The prefilled pen supplied in Korea is a single-use product for one injection per pen. Do not split doses yourself or reuse the pen.
Can I use it with other weight management medicines?
Tell your clinician about all medicines you currently use. They must assess whether combinations are appropriate and when to change medicines. Do not combine or switch them yourself.
Can I stop treatment once I lose weight?
Treatment goals, progress, adverse reactions and lifestyle management are assessed together when discussing continuation, changes or stopping. Decide whether to stop and what to do afterwards with your clinician.
